This particular piece was much more labor intensive than I thought my original concept would require, but it has become one of my favorite pieces because it came together much better than the picture in my head. There are so many elements that I just love in this particular creation.
The focal point is the 1 1/2 teardrop porcelain cabochon featuring an absolutely charming scene of a kitten looking out a window in winter time at colorful birds he has no hope of chasing...heh,heh. Being a cat owner and cat lover, I appreciate this poor kitten's turmoil, the urge to chase the fluttering birds because of a kitten's curiosity or to accept and embrace the warmth of staying inside.
I've embellished the cab with 2 diametrically opposing semi-rope spirals in typical Christmas colors, which gave it a flatter visual plane than the normal rope spiral edging, that has a rounder/deeper depth perception, using size 14/0 round Japanese glass beads and backed with genuine pigskin leather.
The 26 inch neck chain uses a combination of extremely hard to find antique size 16/0 charlotte cut bronze beads and modern size 14/0 round Japanese glass beads. It took me 13 hours just to spiral weave the chain.
The twisted fringe is done with all the colors involved with the centerpiece in size 14/0 round Japanese glass beads with the accents including 3mm Czech glass barrel beads, 6mm glass round beads, 4mm genuine Austrian Swarovski Cut Crystals, and pressed bronze daggers.
All in all, this necklace took close to 20 accumulative hours to complete. This is a TRULY One-Of-A-Kind Creation.
