This is a wonderful example of a flapper style drawstring purse from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. It's crocheted purse with alternating rows of looped red cut glass and hematite metallic carnival glass beaded fringe making up the body of the work. There are a couple of pulled loops on the back which can be easily fixed and near as I can tell, there is no bead loss. It has a drawstring cord that is intact and functional and it matches the crochet thread used. It is lined with a matching bright red fabric that is in excellent condition with no rips, tears, holes, shredding or staining. There are remnants of a paper tag that have part of the word Czechoslovakia on it, so I'm sure this was it's origin. Laying flat, this purse measures 5 1/2 x 7 inches.
