This large knitted antique micro (size 20/0 is what I figure) beaded bag is one of the most unusual I've run across.  I'm not quite sure what (if any) significance this particular design portrays or conveys, I'm still researching it.  As soon as I have something more definitive, I'll post it.  What I do know is that it's a great piece of work!  Especially since the darker green micro beads are charlotte cut glass beads which are rare and hard to find for this time period of the early 1900's.  The beadwork is remarkably intact with only one small split in a lower corner.  As far as bead loss, near as I can tell, I'd say it's maybe a dozen and the majority would be at one hinge area, not even noticeable.

The original lining has been removed, I'm sure this was because the usual silk used for purses this age had disintegrated, however, the original floral bric-a-brac used to hide the hand stitching of the lining to the frame is still intact.

The frame is another matter, it is slightly off kilter, having gotten bent at some point, and only a small portion of the original chain remains.  It's a wonderful leaf embossed brass frame with an acorn kiss closure that does open and shut very nicely.

As I've said, this is a large example of beaded purse for this time period and laying flat, the beaded portion measures a whopping 9 1/2 inches long and 8 3/8 inches at the widest.  There isn't any evidence that this particular purse ever had bottom fringe accents.

In all my years of being a fan and a collector of Antique and Vintage beaded purses, this is not a pattern that is common, so I WILL stick my neck out and state that this may be a one-of-a-kind.
