I fell in love with this little bag the moment I laid eyes on it at a roadside antiques store outside of Talladega, Alabama about 5 years ago.  It is in pristine condition, almost looks like it's never been used.  I could not find any missing beadwork at all, but the faux pearls do show normal wear for a purse it's age.  It's also an unusual shape.  It's done in monochromatic colors of black and silver/grey glass beads.  The front is accented with a floral type design with faux pearl oat shaped beads and glass tube beads.  At the top there are a row of 2mm round faux pearl beads.

Something quite rarely found is what is known in Native American culture as a spirit bead.  This is a single bead of the wrong color that has somehow ended up in the pattern.  These type of purses were most commonly done with white beads, so it does not surprise me that one errant bead made it into this bag.  NOTE:  I recently learned during an episode of the Antiques Road-show, that in the home purse making business, it was customary to insert a white bead into the pattern as a type of 'mark'.

The back of the bag features what is known as a wrist strap and it is intact.  It has a zipper pull and it is intact and works great.  The black grosgrain fabric lining is in mint condition.  It measures almost 7 1/2 inches at the widest point and 5 1/4 tall.

The 1999 Schiffer 3rd edition "Handbags" values these purses at $65.
