This is a very vibrant colored beaded purse made in Germany probably from the early to mid 1900's. My camera photo's don't do the purse justice as it is very VIVID in it's art deco patterned colorations, gold, root beer, sky blue, lime green, amber, and jet black faceted glass beads. This particular purse is in very good condition for it's age, I could only find a couple of missing beads up next to the frame, none on the body near as I could tell. Obviously, several of the looped fringes are missing, should be a very easy fix, but if the fringes were removed, you couldn't find any other bead loss than the couple I've mentioned already. Lining is intact with a slip pocket (although it appears to be machine stitched, so it's possible this is a replacement, but I couldn't say for sure), there are no rips, tears, holes, shredding that I could see. The frame appears to be brass, it does have some tarnishing and or rust spots, which confuse me as to the metal content....it is stamped "GERMANY", but the frame is straight, ball kiss closures work and it snaps open and shut very nicely. Purse measures about 6 inches wide and 7 inches long from the top of the frame to the bottom of the beadworked portion of the bag, 9 inches including the fringe. Chain handle is 13 inches long for an overall hanging length of about 15 1/2 inches. SOLD Item # AP77 |
