This is one of the most amazing little coin purses I've ever encountered. From the early to mid 1900's this is what is known as a pie-shape, crocheted with very fine or micro beads, actually using the smallest size they ever made at a size 24/o (900-1000 beads per square inch). The geometric design is Art Deco. The colors are stunning, in opaque celery green, sparkly peridot green, sparkly dark teal blue, gold, opaque pale pink, and a dusty rose or pale mauve, Italian hand-blown glass beads. The beadwork is all intact. I did find one little tiny spot near the bottom on the back that looked like a repair may have been done, but I only found it after taking a magnifier to the bag.
The whole edge of the purse from hinge to hinge was embellished with short, intertwined, looped fringe, as you can see from the photo, there is missing loops on the one side, this is about the only flaw with this purse and could be very easily fixed by someone with matching beads.
The inside of the purse is lined with a silvery pale green type of I believe might be grosgrain fabric and has a tiny water spot at the very top, other than that it is in perfect condition with no rips, tears, holes, or shredding.
The truly ASTOUNDING feature of this purse is the very RARE frame.
The floral motif mosaic frame is
painstakingly and artistically pieced together with teeny tiny bits and
shards of colored glass one piece at a time. The intricacy of this
work is phenomenal!!! I'm unsure of the metal content of the frame,
but it has a ball kiss closure that snaps open and shut very tightly and
securely. The inside of the frame is stamped on both sides "Made In
Italy" and there is a small #2 stamped on either side of the hinge.
Purse measures about 2 3/4 inches at the widest and about 3 1/4 inches
