My younger sister Theresa is a very talented seamstress, and has made clothing for her family members for years. I was especially enthralled with some of the ethnic fabrics she was using when making 'dashikis', scarves, and traditional African tam hats and caps. The colors and patterns were very bright and vivid and I was inspired!! I also LOVE the challenge of making a matching or coordinated pattern. This particular fabric has numerous squares with different bold patterns and images. A couple of the squares have images of 'masks' which I have tried my best to depict in beads. I call this "Rams Head" and have made it into a brooch. It is weaved in flat vertical peyote with size 15/0 glass Japanese Hex beads. Backed with genuine pigskin leather. I also make a version using size 11/0 22K gold Delica and size 11/0 matte black glass Delica beads, it's a bit larger and more expensive than the Hex one. I also have a tam hat (traditional African American style, which is similar to a pill-box style), and a scarf (trimmed with black fringe) in the material shown in the above examples. Just contact Sunshine if you are interested in any of these items. Both Delica and Hex brooches have been SOLD, but can be reproduced, just contact Sunshine for your order. Rams Head
