My younger sister Theresa is a very talented seamstress, and has made clothing for her family members for years. I was especially enthralled with some of the ethnic fabrics she was using when making 'dashikis', scarves, and traditional African tam hats and caps. The colors and patterns were very bright and vivid and I was inspired!! I also LOVE the challenge of making a matching or coordinated pattern. This particular fabric has numerous squares with different bold patterns and images. A couple of the squares have images of 'masks' which I have tried my best to depict in beads. I call this the 'Pineapple Man' and have made it into a brooch. It is weaved in flat vertical peyote with size 11/0 22K gold Delica beads and size 11/0 matte black glass Delica beads. Backed with genuine pigskin leather. I actually made one for my personal collection and I wear it on the front of one of my sister's handmade leather tam hats, it makes a great Hat Emblem, and I get lots of compliments on it. I also make a version using size 15/0 glass Japanese Hex beads, it's a bit smaller than the Delica one, thus less expensive. Both Delica and Hex brooches have been SOLD, but can be reproduced, just contact Sunshine for your order. Pineapple Man
