Cleo, a beaded picture of Cleopatra mounted on purple suede in a gold frame close-up.

An original design, this is my version of Cleopatra. Known today primarily for her powers of seduction, Cleopatra's reign signifies the end of Egyptian rule and the transfer of power to the Roman Empire. Literally translated, her name means "glory of her father," however Cleopatra was definitely a woman with her own agenda. If Cleo looks dark it is because my politically correct sister was dismayed the first time I did her with the light flesh tone colors. She insists that the Egyptians had darker skin tones and I should depict it so. It is hard to find a bead color to match different skin tones but I did the best I could and my sister was happy with this one.

Weaved in flat vertical peyote with size 15/0 glass Japanese Hex beads. Cleo is mounted on genuine pigskin suede in a 5 x 5 inch freestanding frame.
